Lunch with Papa Robuchon in Taipei

L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon has been one of our all time favorite restaurant in Taipei, not only because of the high-quality food the chefs make, but also the ambience and the incredibly welcoming services that make you feel like home! We usually love to sit at the end of the bar at the corner, where we can see everyone and all the action in the open kitchen.

Start the meal with a little bubbles 🙂

And every year around the end of September and beginning of October, Papa Robuchon will come with his fabulous team to Asia, introducing new dishes and catch up with his loyal customers.

We love the bread basket 🙂

Lunch was fully booked!

It was the first day of the week-long event, and we were so pleased to see everyone again 🙂

amuse-bouche was a classic foie-gras mouse
Pumpkin soup was the new vegetarian dish on the menu, it’s rich but also clean and light
With a little nutmeg and onion foam, it’s very comforting taste of autumn
Easy drinking wine
Another new dish on the menu
They called it the ravioli, but it’s made with thin slices of daikon, crab, caviar and some garnishing chives and radish slices.
Artichoke is also new on the menu, seasoned with some turmeric, pimenton and served with artichoke puree and shiso flowers
Le Vivaneau with lemongrass foam and vegetables
Australian wagyu with aubergine
Beef was amazing! Perfectly done and well seasoned.
Papa busy checking out the bakery, making sure everything is done with perfection!

Classic apple tart with ice cream

We saw a lot more vegetarian options in this season, and there are gentle touch of Asian herbs and flavors in the dishes, which makes the classic French cuisine more complex and much lighter to the palate. Not only the execution of all the dishes were precise, but the taste of pure, clean and high quality food was aesthetically plated in an almost poetic way.

But seriously, these are some of the most incredible people in the F&B industry, and yet with their achievements, they remain extremely hospitable, warm and fun. They have really brought changes to the F&B industry here in Taiwan, not only the about the internationally respected food and services, but also the time and resources they invested in the hospitality industry in Taiwan. We wholeheartedly appreciate and respect all the hard working chefs and game changers.
